Toyota Land Cruiser has a special status in the global market as a vehicle that has proven its hard, durable and reliable quality in the most extreme environments. This pedigree has provided the platform for the development of a new Toyota Land Cruiser that goes further than ever before to offer a balance of performance can take anywhere with balance, motorists want comfort and refinement in the normal day to day driving.
Makoto Arimoto, new Toyota Land Cruiser Chief Engineer, explains: "In general, it is considered difficult to achieve both good off-road driving performance of the vehicle, but with the new Land Cruiser, rather than making a half-hearted attempt. to provide a ratio of 50:50 between online and off-road capabilities, have spent no less than 100 percent in the development of both. We believe that we were able to refine and improve both of these apparently conflicting characteristics. "
The success of the new Toyota Land Cruiser is built on three core values of product:
Quality, durability and reliability, the long and illustrious history of the Land Cruiser and a reputation for lasting performance.
Balance without rivals on and off-road driving performance, advanced technologies supported by the suspension and help drivers.
Refined and versatile, providing a functional yet luxurious and comfortable environment onboard.
New Toyota Land Cruiser benefits from a higher level of advanced users, but the management and friendly driving characteristics that help the driver deal with the more demanding routes. At the same time, new suspension technology and onboard monitors Land Cruiser to make more comfortable and easier to maneuver with the city traffic every day, too. Inner packing smart offers highly flexible seating, luggage space, with ample space for up to seven on board. Most models enjoy a high specification luxury features, including a surround sound audio system, triple-zone automatic climate control and a DVD / games entertainment for rear seat passengers, creating a welcoming environment to 'interior of the vehicle in all driving conditions might be like outside.
Customer orders are taken now with first deliveries in early December 2009.On-the-road prices range from £ 29,795 to £ 44,795.
Toyota land cruiser DESIGN
The design of the new Toyota Land Cruiser is faithful to its heritage and projects the qualities of a rugged vehicle, powerful and fully at home in any environment.
In the front there is a new over-sized design of the bumper with integral fog lamps, which underlines the strong position of the Land Cruiser. The impact of the front overhang of the corner off-road driving approach has been significantly minimized by cutting the bottom. The new front grille has vertical bars, highlighted in chrome and silver versions of higher grade, framed by bunches projector lamps with cylindrical high and low beam and turn signals that extend into the wings so they are visible from the side.
In profile, the new Toyota Land Cruiser shows flowing lines and dynamic, with the cowl moved 65 mm forward, the belt line raised 20 mm from the front and rear flared wheel arches and integral to the rear of the vehicle, such aslargerToyota Land Cruiser V8.
On the back side of high visibility LED lamp cluster side-hinged tailgate, which is inset deep into the rear bumper to provide a practical, step-level access, protected by a durable cover. The tailgate includes a top-hinged tailgate glass, offering easy access to the cargo area, especially in tight parking lots where the full opening of the door could be hampered. The tailgate can be unlocked and opened with one hand, using the smart key or a release button next to the lower left corner of the glass. An integrated spoiler on the roof houses the rear wiper of the screen and high-mounted LED brake light.
The mirror-mounted turn indicators of the door and the rear lights use LEDs instead of conventional bulbs. These come on more quickly, giving other drivers more time to react to brake the vehicle, and they consume less electricity.
Land Cruiser in theUK new Toyota is available in five exterior paint finishes: Astral Black, a new Deep Titanium Metallic, Silver Metallic Tyrol, Decuma Grey metallic, exclusive to LC5 models, pearl white metallic. LC3 models feature 17-inch alloy wheels, LC4 and LC5 with drive versions of 18-inch wheels.
Toyota land cruiser Aerodynamics
Body panel gaps and minimum perfect with a series of aerodynamic improvements have reduced the vehicle's coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.37 (current model) to 0.35, which in turn supports a significant improvement in high-speed cruising fuel economy .
Aerodynamic efficiency has been improved by reducing the overall height of 15 mm, and with the introduction of front and rear spoilers to channel the airflow under the body clean and direct it away from the rear edge of the roof. Baffles inside the engine compartment to correct the flow of air through the radiator grille to reduce turbulence and design of the front bumper corners includes extended to push the air out from the sides of the front tires, making the smooth flow of air back . Front and rear spats have to manage the airflow around the tires and cut turbulence.
Installation of a fin-shaped aero wiper blade cover and hiding the screen washer nozzles reduces wind noise and further enhances the aerodynamic performance.
Toyota land cruiser Packaging
Preserving the Land Cruiser agile character, there are only a modest increase in exterior dimensions: the new model is 45 mm longer and 10 mm wider than its predecessor, with a minimum turning radius of 5.8 million.
The sudden change step (2,790 mm) and rear (1,075 mm) is the same design and intelligent new front bumper ensures that even if the front overhang is longer than 45 mm (895 mm), 32 ° angle of attack is unchanged. The starting angle is 25 ° (24 ° electrically modulated rear air suspension) and the angle of 22 ° off.
The corners of the lid have been raised, which makes it easier for the driver to accurately locate the vehicle's front end when it moves in tight urban areas, or browse around off-road obstacles.
Toyota land cruiser SAFETY
New Toyota Land Cruiser is equipped with a comprehensive and technologically advanced of assets and liabilities and off-road safety features.Advanced technical and sophisticated electronic systems provide a high level of protection, while at the same time, making driving more rewarding, helping the driver and enjoy exploring the limits of vehicle performance.
Body structure
Collisions between vehicles in height, such as SUVs, and cars can cause larger vehicle riding up over the smallest. To counter this risk,Toyota works to ensure the security systems of both vehicles involved in an accident can be used to their full potential.
To this end, the front crumple zone in the frame of the new Land Cruiser is set at a height equivalent to that of a conventional car. The chassis and body have been designed to effectively utilize and absorb impact energy to help protect all parties involved, including those on the reception of a collision in a smaller vehicle.
Several measures are being taken to control the deformation of the body in a frontal collision, while preserving the structural integrity of the cabin.Reinforcements in pillars have a multi-layered roof rail between the armature and bonnet to give greater resistance to instability and sustainable energy when flexed, which helps the body deformation limit. In addition, lower-pillar reinforcements also have a multi-layered, high-strength outer rocker panel reinforcements were introduced.
Using high-strength steel sheet for the A pillar and roof rail reinforcement improves the performance of a side collision. The reinforcement of the roof header has a closed top and bottom cross section, giving added strength and floor beams are strategically positioned to efficiently distribute the impact forces - both measures that further help to reduce the risk of deformation of the cabin.
A highly effective multi-load-path cross-channel impact energy structure from the B-pillars, rocker and inner-to-frame bracket load path to carry energy from the outer rocker.
Occupant protection is further enhanced by foam padded door panels and door trim, reducing the risk of pelvic injury in the event of side impact, door armrests and collapsible.
Pedestrian protection
New Toyota Land Cruiser Hood, hood and front wings are all designed to absorb as much energy as possible in the event of a collision with a pedestrian.
The bonnet has a deep, energy-absorbing profile with longitudinal reinforcing ribs. Pinch points and holes behind the striker strengthening hood make sure there is a wide zone of shock absorption.
The front wing mounting brackets are points to crush to absorb energy efficient, and the wings are incorporating energy-absorbing protection, with a structure designed to slide in a head impact, thereby reducing the reaction force supported from the pedestrian.
Airbags and active headrests
New Land Cruiser is equipped with seven SRS airbags as standard: dual stage front airbags help, a new driver knee airbag, front airbags, front side airbags and full-length curtain airbags, providing head protection for occupants of outer seats in all three rows.
The front seats are equipped with safety belts with pretensioners and active head restraints new design that help prevent whiplash injuries. Additional protection is provided through a newly-designed backrest, headrest in the shape of an ally to sit as close as possible to the occupants' heads during normal use. In the case of rear impact, the force on the back of the body causes the headrest to move up and forward to bridge the gap between the head and headrest, while significantly reducing the risk of whiplash.
High-intensity discharge headlamps and Adaptive Front-lighting
LC4 and LC5 versions of the new Toyota Land Cruiser is equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps with low beam headlights, which emit a quasi-light and light colors give wider and longer. The bulbs are energy efficient and have a long life.
An Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) works in conjunction with HID headlights, adjustable light beam in line with vehicle speed and steering angle to provide enhanced cornering and cornering lights at intersections. AFS also has a dynamic function of leveling the height of the beam remains constant, regardless of the cargo on board, or change in position of the vehicle.
Braking and stability control systems
New Toyota Land Cruiser is power-assisted braking system uses the new 388 mm ventilated discs front with a greater width of 32mm. Four-piston calipers with larger pistons are used to improve the braking power and consistency of performance. At the rear are 312 mm ventilated discs with floating calipers.
The vehicle comes standard with a full range of braking, traction control and stability systems: ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, traction control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
During emergency braking, brake lights automatically flash to warn following drivers.
Additional control of the brakes are provided specifically to improve off-road performance and ease of use in terms of taxation, including multi-terrain ABS, Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC ) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC). Details of their operation can be found in the Off-Road Performance.
Performance on the road
Most of the legendary Land Cruiser off-road toughness can be attributed to its robust and durable body-on-frame construction. This concept has been reported by the previous generation model, but with a stiffness increased by 11 percent.
Another advantage over the monocoque design used by many SUV rivals is the ability of the ladder frame to absorb vibrations and noise from the surface of the engine, transmission and road noise in order to reduce NVH in the cabin. For more help absorb NVH and a comfortable ride, the chassis and body mounts are made of rubber insulation.
Using high-strength steel in the body saves weight and body rigidity on the rise.
Toyota land cruiser Suspension
New Toyota Land Cruiser used extensively revised version of the front and rear independent double wishbone four-link rigid suspension that was used in its predecessor, retuned for improved ride comfort and better steering feel.
In front of a run and the long wheelbase was retained, and the springs and dampers have been optimized. The same shocks are larger than before. The lower arm and knuckles have been strengthened and all the bushes have been returned. To get a better driving stability, driving the roll ratio was changed 5-8 degrees.
On the back, the long wheel travel has been improved with springs and dampers optimized, with, again, bigger shocks adopted. Bushes have been recalibrated and the axle housing has been reinforced for added strength and durability.
Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System
The new Kinetic Dynamic Suspension modulated electrical system (KDSS), LC4 and LC5 models mounted on, increases the effectiveness of the front and rear anti-roll bars for better on-and off-road performance (see Performance section below for more off-road details) .
On the road, the system works to minimize body roll, improve steering response and absorb the effects of driving on difficult roads.
Single hydraulic cylinders are mounted on anti-roll bars, each with a double top and bottom. The front and rear upper chambers lower chambers and front and rear are interconnected by separate hydraulic lines, each containing a rechargeable battery.
As the vehicle begins to roll in a turn, the driving forces occur equal to the outside wheels. Consequently, the liquid remains in the hydraulic lines, keeping the front and rear cylinder pistons in place, so that the anti-roll bars to suppress the race suspension and reduces body roll.
On rough surfaces, however, a slightly irregular force is experienced between the front and rear. In this case, the solenoid valves open and close rapidly accumulator to absorb the movement of fluid in the hydraulic lines. This dampens the vibration, absorbing bumps in the road, making for a more comfortable ride.
Adaptive Variable Suspension
An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), the device is mounted LC5 models, allowing the driver to optimize driving characteristics of the Land Cruiser. There are three settings, controlled by a switch on the center console: normal mode for everyday driving, comfort mode for maximum comfort while driving, and Sport mode for better body control and precise steering response, cornering .
AVS automatically adjusts the performance of four-wheel independent suspension, the monitoring of data from different sensors to continuously optimize the damping force of each shock by activating the appropriate actuator.
Working in response to input from the driver, the vehicle body in motion and the surface quality of the road, senior active damping adjustable to suit a wide range of specific control functions:
Vehicle speed-sensitive control the damping force increases gradually with increasing speed, low speed to reach high speeds with comfort, handling and stability.
Anti-dive front-end monitoring increases the damping force on the brakes to reduce the front-end dive.
Anti-squat rear control increases the damping force to minimize squat during acceleration.
Sport mode is selected automatically increases the difference between inner and outer shock damping to further reduce cornering roll of the vehicle.
The AVS system also incorporates Roll Control Posture, posture to give a vehicle that matches the driver's intuition. By controlling the damping force being the difference between the angle of roll and pitch when cornering is kept to a minimum.
Electronically modulated air suspension rear
An electronic modulated air suspension rear (mounted on a Toyota Land Cruiser LC5 models) works in conjunction with the AVS to maintain optimal control of the rear suspension and give stability and ride quality without compromise, regardless of the number of persons on board, or at goods transported. Also excels at absorbing high frequency vibrations to reduce road generated NVH.
The system has five modes of control:
Self-leveling, which maintains the height of the rear body, regardless of the number of occupants or the size of the load.
Height-selectable control that allows the driver selects a normal, high or low vehicle height adjustment.
Speed-sensitive control, which ensures the best stability and ride comfort automatically returning the vehicle ride height at high or low for theNormal setting once a certain speed is reached.
Switching-off and related control, which when activated for a certain period of time after the ignition is switched off, prevents the height of the back up after passengers exit the vehicle.
Height control OFF, which disables the height control during lifting and towing of the vehicle.
Variable Flow Control Power Steering
New Toyota Land Cruiser uses the same-resistant hydraulic power steering system as its predecessor, but with the advantage that review and the addition of variable flow control (VFC). VFC combines direct response and feel at sea with the greatest ease of use at a rate of parking, plus a dedicated environment for off-road driving.
The steering ratio has been changed to a more nimble response to steering inputs, and support the steering rack bushings were returned to reduce vibration and vibration of the steering while braking, giving a more comfortable ride.
VFC is an evolution of the traditional speed-sensitive power steering that takes into account factors such as vehicle speed, steering angle and steering rate to convey an 'idea of the steering flow of fluid in all driving conditions. Flow control in this way as a heavy or light, adjust the steering feel to the driver.
When the Land Cruiser is traveling in a straight line, VFC is in stand-by mode, reducing the power draw of the motor and therefore fuel consumption. Or cornering maneuvers, VFC gives an immediate response to steering inputs with the correct speed of fluid flow. At low speeds the flow is increased to reduce steering effort, making it easier to turn the steering wheel. With increasing vehicle speed, the flow rate decreases gradually to give a more direct steering feel and responsive.
Because it is difficult to judge the conditions of the land if the steering sensitivity is constantly evolving, VFC incorporates a dedicated off-road setting that is activated automatically when the driver selects the mode L4. This approach calibrates the system to provide a constant flow of liquids regardless of vehicle speed, steering angle and speed steering. This constant level of steering assist helps the driver to get a better idea of what the tires grip the steering wheel.
Toyota land cruiser Quiet
In addition to the NVH significant benefits from its body-on-frame construction, the new Toyota Land Cruiser also features a series of measures to cut the wind and road noise, resulting in a very quiet cabin.
Air cavities are introduced in the hood silencer, reducing engine noise. Sound insulation materials are placed in A, B, C and D-pillars and the door sill and head sections to minimize noise transmission through the body. Sound damping and insulation materials are used throughout the interior, the carpet, door trim, roof rails, side panels of the luggage compartment and dash silencer.
Measures to reduce wind noise include an acoustic windscreen has an inner layer of film sandwiched between glass. The pitch between the windshield and roof gutters and side has been reduced to a minimum, and a front spoiler and under cover are mounted smooth the airflow under the front of the car.
Off-road performance
An SUV for off-road terrain to tackle really hard to have a generous ground clearance. But this is not just the distance between the lowest point of the car body and the earth: there are three other measures that determine the quality of off-road ability: the angle of approach, breakover angle of the ramp and the starting angle .
The new Toyota Land Cruiser has a minimum distance of 215 mm of soil. The angle of approach, which determines the maximum slope the vehicle can cope with the bottom of the front bumper to hit the ground, is 32 °. A ramp breakover angle (measured from the center of the underside of the contact points of front and rear tires), which determines the slope of the ridge without a land vehicle can contact the underside, is 22 °. And the starting angle, which governs the maximum slope the vehicle can negotiate without the bottom of the rear bumper that hits the ground, is 25 ° or 24 ° models with air suspension.
New Land Cruiser may also be driven with a bank angle of 42 degrees and a maximum angle of maximum forward or backward by 42 °. Its maximum wading depth of 700mm.
Even with its generous ground clearance, there is always the risk that the underside of the vehicle coming into contact with the ground while driving on very rough terrain. For this reason, both the front and rear bumpers and the frame cross ladder are designed to slide easily over obstacles. Many other SUVs have shaped box beams, which means it can easily become caught on to stop the vehicle, causing damage at the same time. The new Toyota Land Cruiser tilted beam is shaped to slide up and over these dangers without causing damage.
Suspension
As described in the section of road performance, the new Land Cruiser is an independent review of the design of the front suspension and four-link rear with a stick side, giving strength, durability and reliability with the degree of long wheel travel that is necessary for exceptional off-road performance.
The left and right sides of the rear suspension are connected by a rigid axle, providing better ground clearance and stability of the body that could be achieved with an independent design.
Working in collaboration with the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension system (see below), Toyota Land Cruiser wheel articulation ensures all tires can get the best possible contact with the ground, even more serious on the ground.
Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System
Full details of the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) operation can be found in the On-road performance. In the off-road driving, KDSS, LC4 and LC5 models mounted on, increases the effectiveness of the front and rear anti-roll bars to improve articulation of the wheel (the vertical distance a person can move the wheel while the others remain in contact with the ground).
Driving on rough terrain before you learn and generate forces of the rear wheel, which causes the piston in each hydraulic cylinder to create a shot opposite. This counteracts the resistance of the anti-roll bar and allows the suspension to move freely. With both front and rear anti-roll bars virtually disconnected, wheel travel available is maximized, ensuring all four tires can remain in contact with the ground, where possible.
Adaptive Variable Suspension and electronically modulated air suspension rear
Both adaptive variable suspension (AVS) and electronically modulated air suspension systems are back on the LC5 Land Cruiser off-road custom settings to optimize the car's all-terrain ability.
The AVS has a new optimization function that automatically adjusts damper control damping force shock absorbers to suit the vehicle speed when L4 selected mode. At low speeds the dampers have been optimized for scanning on the roughest terrain, while at moderate speed to fit under normal driving conditions. This level of control allows uncompromised off-road performance while maintaining the shock and impact caused by the rough, off-road surfaces to a minimum.
In addition, during the off-road driving, the valve tube hydraulic connection between the right and left hand rear suspension air units is open for maximum wheel travel and articulation.
OFF-ROAD TECHNOLOGY
The new Toyota Land Cruiser is designed to excel on the sand, rocks or other challenging conditions can be met, giving maximum traction at all times to provide the level of off-road performance for which the model is known.
Requirements The handle, slip and the torque generated by the different soil will make different demands on the permanent four-wheel drive. For example, soft surfaces, such as sand, requires the most power can be transferred to the ground, allowing a large amount of slip to let the tires dig in and get the most grip. In contrast, the slow traverse of rocks or slippery surfaces requires precise regulation of power to the wheels to control the spin and ensure a constant level of grip constant.
Full-time four-wheel drive with Torsen limited slip differential
The new Toyota Land Cruiser proven permanent four-wheel drive uses a Torsen limited slip differential (LSD) in the center differential. LSD use low viscosity oil to reduce friction and efficiency of the fuel support vehicles.
The unit has a motorized actuator movement to facilitate the transfer of high-low ratio manual transmission shift effort itself has been reduced by 30 percent, improving performance in cold weather.
Under normal conditions, torque is split 40:60 front to rear, but LSD can automatically vary the ratio of 50:50 to about 30:70 in order to obtain the optimal distribution at any given driving situation.
The four-wheel drive also has a new rear differential, designed for increased reliability and robustness with an increase of 34 percent of the torque capacity.A further locking rear differential is mounted LC5 models, increasing stability, especially in extreme off-road.
Instead of a conventional gear lever transfer, the new Land Cruiser has an easy to use online change, which is found together with the center and rear differential lock switches on the center console. Using these options in combination allows the driver to choose H4F, H4L, L4L L4F and methods - that the gear ratio is high or low, with the center differential or blocked.
Active Traction Control
The Active Traction Control (A-TRC) and brake control system uses the engine and the torque distribution between all four appropriate wheels to maintain traction when pulling away or driving on slippery surfaces.
The system receives signals at a constant speed of each wheel, so that it can detect that it could be spinning and have traction. Braking the wheels turning, controlling engine power and torque distribution to those with handles that automatically provides maximum traction on rough terrain. It also helps prevent wheelspin when pulling away or accelerating, even on muddy trails and roads slick.
Select multi-terrain
A standard feature on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC5, Multi-terrain Select (MTS) is an evolution of the A-TRC system and the firstToyota .
MTS automatically adjusts the vehicle acceleration, braking and traction control to meet the off-road conditions, providing optimal traction and driver control the vehicle.
The system is activated by the multi-information switch on the steering wheel and can be accessed via the multi-information display. It offers four modes of land: mud and sand, Mughal Loose Rock and Rock. The selected mode is shown on the display, with a prompt for the driver of the request H4 L4 or four-wheel drive range of the transfer. The Multi-terrain Monitor (details in the Driver Information section) automatically displays the view in front of the vehicle.
Mud and sand gives way to high wheel slip at L4 or H4 to allow the wheels to dig into the surface tension and secure. Traction control minimizes wheel MTS selectively break to allow a necessary degree of slip. These functions work together to prevent the vehicle from getting bogged down on a soft ground.
How to work loose rock in the range L4 to allow a degree of wheel slip to maintain the momentum of the tires and affect a greater degree of selective braking to control wheelspin. This is the mode is particularly useful for maintaining the momentum of the vehicle uphill gradients.
Mogul mode, which operates at L4 range, the priority is taken by only allowing a moderate amount of wheel slip to maintain a slow, constant speed of the vehicle. At the same time, traction control MTS applies selective braking to maintain a hold moderate. This mode is recommended for all circumstances not specifically match the other MTS mode. Maintain momentum than even the most severe, irregular, undulating terrain.
Mode of rock, also used with the range L4 transfer, minimizes wheel spin for maximum grip, while the selective application of heavy braking. With the slip ratio of each wheel controlled independently, maximum grip and traction are obtained, even when traversing large obstacles.
Drivers must choose a mode of MTS, based on the amount of slip across. For example, when an excessive wheelspin prevents the vehicle to gain enough traction, a more aggressive mode, setting the nearest rock, should be selected. In contrast, when there is too little slip to get the necessary traction, a less aggressive, more close to the mud and sand is recommended.
In one of the four modes, if the vehicle is locked and the wheels turn freely, the center differential can be locked for added traction. If the wheels keep on turning after you have locked the diff in L4 range, the rear differential can be locked (on LC5 models). A scan control function can also be used to free the vehicle.
Scan Control
Crawl Control, another standard feature of the Land Cruiser LC5, can help the driver up and down slopes at a crawl, or free the vehicle when stopped, without having to touch the pedals.
The system works in L4 range and is activated by a switch on the dashboard. It provides a range of five speed settings, automatically controls the engine and brakes to maintain the desired speed. Without the need for careful use of the accelerator pedal or brake pedal, the driver can concentrate fully on driving the vehicle.
Control Scan has a number of other benefits. Its control allows smooth and steady at a slow pace to be maintained, avoiding the risk of spinning wheels or trailer. This reduces the amount of body movement on the ground serious, helping to prevent the vehicle from bottoming and causing damage. It also allows you to wade through a speed so slow and uniform, reducing the risk of flooding of the engine, or other submerged objects causing damage. Crawl Control works in reverse, too, helping the driver when backing up to hard surfaces.
Multi-terrain ABS
The multi-terrain ABS system fitted to the new Toyota Land Cruiser has been calibrated to give great stopping power in a wide range of off-road surfaces. While the system prevents the wheels from locking when braking on paved roads in the same way as a conventional ABS, deliberately allows for a degree of locking of the wheels on loose surfaces, helping to find the purchase tires digging in, so increased braking power.
Hill-start Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control
Hill-start Assist Control and descent control is fitted to both new LC3 and LC4 degrees (LC5 has Crawl Control).
Hill-start control detects any rolling back of the vehicle during a hill start and applies the brakes on all four wheels temporarily for a maximum of five seconds, allowing the driver to leave without losing control.
Downhill Assist Control adjusts vehicle speed to keep the Land Cruiser running downhill out of control. Powered by the driver, can be turned on when L4 is selected in the transfer. It works at speeds below 15 mph, without the need for the driver to use the brake pedal and accelerator. Forward speed is controlled between 3 and 4 mph, reversing between 1 and 3 mph.
Toyota land cruiser DRIVER INFORMATION
The Multi-terrain Monitor, LC5 mounted versions of the new Toyota Land Cruiser, works in conjunction with MTS to give the driver a better view of the area around the vehicle which could be difficult to see or obscured by the steering wheel. The system uses an array of four exterior cameras that feed live images for multi-screen information on the dashboard, when moving forward or in reverse.
The front camera uses a lens wide angle to offer the widest possible view onwards. Areas out of sight of the driver, suffered as a front bonnet and within 50 inches from the bumper can be seen using the system.
As well as front and rear facing cameras, there are cameras mounted on the exterior mirrors, which can be seen projecting from the front or rear. The versatile display modes can show front and side views independently, or in combined form. The driver can change the mode using the multi-information turn the steering wheel and the display will indicate that the cameras have been selected. When the shift lever is moved to the position "R", the display automatically switches to rear view.
The monitor also displays the information about the front view, including the range of cameras and the position of any obstacles detected by sonar distance. Steering-linked guidelines are given, the mapping of the intended path of the front tires to help the driver avoid the dangers ahead. The inner and outer edges of the paths of the front tires are shown in red (within 0.5 m) and yellow (within 1.0 m) to indicate the distance from the front of the vehicle.
The cameras allow the driver side display an image of the area around the left and right, front or rear tires at the same time, regardless of the direction of vehicle travel.
Further information provided on the camera side monitor includes the display interval, the position of obstacles detected by sonar distance and position of the contact surfaces of front and rear tires. Parallel lines indicating the width of the vehicle are displayed by the 350 mm side of the vehicle, and the lines front and rear 100 mm in the front and rear, helping the driver and judge distances accurately the position of the vehicle, even in confined spaces.
Angle Shot
New Land Cruiser LC5 models also feature a display of shooting angle, which completes the multi-terrain Monitor function predicted path of the tires. The system can be selected using the multi-information switch to MTS when it is running. Guidelines bound steering angle of the vehicle are projected in real time to display. Movement through seven steps, to keep the driver constantly informed about changes in the tire angle between zero and 45 degrees. The display angleTyre is also useful when parking, giving the driver an instant reminder steering angle and direction of the tire.
Toyota land cruiser ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
For the UK market the new Earth Cruiser Toyota is offered with one engine: a 3.0 liter D-4D diesel engine mated to a five-speed sequential automatic.
3.0 D-4D
The 2,982 cc 16-valve DOHC common rail develops 171bhp at 3400 rpm and 410Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,800 revolutions per minute. This enables an acceleration from zero to 62 mph in 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 109 mph.
The engine is very durable and meets Euro 4 emission standards. Compared to the previous Land Cruiser, CO2 emissions have been reduced from 224 to 214g/km. Fuel consumption is much better, even with the combined official figure improved from 31.4 to 34.9mpg. The use of new high-pressure fuel injectors fast response has played a key role in achieving cleaner, more efficient performance.
The engine has two balancing shafts built into the cylinder block to reduce vibrations. Guided by the timing gear, these rotate at twice crankshaft speed and in opposite directions.
In the presence of light engine load, an exhaust valve on command Gar recirculation (EGR) cooler bypass is activated to prevent the temperature inside the combustion chamber to fall to an abnormally low level, allowing optimal operation of EGR and maintain the best possible performance issues.
A five-speed sequential automatic
The five-speed sequential automatic has a number of features that promote changes smooth, low noise, excellent performance and good fuel consumption, driving is on or off-road.
Manual override
The transmission has a sequential manual control function that allows the driver to take more control and enjoy a greater involvement by selecting the manual transmission. The system is activated by selecting the "S" turn at the door. The driver can then limit the range of travel, selecting the maximum speed at which the transmission works. The selected gear is shown on the main instrument display.
Flex Lock-up control
Flex Lock-Up Control increases the range of the lock-up clutch slip from his control, fuel consumption. In acceleration, the distribution of power transmitted between the lock-up clutch (mechanical motive power) and the torque converter (the fluid driving force) is adjusted to driving conditions, greatly increasing efficiency. In deceleration, the lock-up clutch work until the vehicle speed is reached as low as possible, increasing the cut-off series of fuel for fuel economy.
AI-SHIFT control
Artificial Intelligence (AI)-shift control changes gear automatically map based on road conditions and driving style. Condition monitoring of road support, an integral part of this system, promotes a more comfortable ride and responsive avoiding unnecessary up-shifts while driving uphill, and automatically scaled to automatically get the benefit of engine braking when traveling downhill.
Eco Driving Indicator
Eco Driving Indicator helps the driver to adopt a driving style best fuel consumption, with a light on the dash that lights up when the accelerator is operating within its range more efficiently. When the acceleration moves beyond this area, the Eco light turned off and the display begins to flash.
Toyota land cruiser Interior Features
While it remains a tough, go-anywhere off-road, the new Toyota Land Cruiser is a first class road vehicles with a high level of refinement, interior quality, comfort and convenience, and practical application of advanced technology.

The new dashboard has a strong form horizontal, vertical interrupted by the leading console, which contains the audio controls and air conditioning and TFT multi-information display.
This configuration ensures drivers maintain a clear view of all key controls and meters when driving on steep terrain heights. The large knobs control the air conditioning and audio are designed to be easy to use in difficult conditions, such as low light or when wearing thick gloves
Similarly, the driver's instrument panel has been designed for maximum clarity at all times. It has large, white-lit Optitron speedometer and tachometer dial rings turquoise accent and a 3D effect to the marking scale.
The quadrants are separated by a large multi-information display, described in detail in the section below cost.
Toyota has made it easier for drivers to find the ideal position at the wheel, the addition of both tilt and telescopic steering wheel. The driver's seat has six-way manual adjustment of LC3 models and eight-way electric lumbar adjustment and control of heating power LC4 and LC5 on versions, adjustable passenger seat with four-way manual or power, according to rank. The LC5 also provides a memory function of the seat.
The attention to detail can be seen in a soft-touch toggle on the side of the center console that provide extra comfort for the driver's knees and shins, and a soft urethane pad on top of the center armrest. Identification of off-road control switch at the base of the center console makes it easy to use on both front seats.
LC3 models have cloth upholstery Yosemite, Sequoia with (dark gray) andYukon (beige), leather seats available in high-quality models. Interior color combinations are black on gray, with light gray door pillars and roof lining, ivory or dark brown, with ivory door pillars and roof lining.
Second-row seats
The new configuration of the second row seats offer greater flexibility for the organization of the interior to cope with different arrangements and load requirements. The base seats slide independently through a series 135mm, to gain space for the legs or cargo space, as required. In LC3 models, which do not provide the third row of seats as standard, the second-row seats can be folded twice to release even more luggage space.
On the passenger side of the second row of seats has a walk in the new function that is easier to use than traditional seat-system failure. A lever on the side of the seat can be operated with one hand while at times the backrest forward and slide the seat and the position of maximum forward, giving generous access to the third row.
Third row of seats
Instead of "occasional" seats found in some SUVs, the Toyota Land Cruiser offers its two seats with integrated headrests, which can be folded completely flat loading plan.
The seating position was made more comfortable, by increasing the distance between the hip and foot, thanks to the sliding second-row seats, legroom is up to more than double that of the current Land Cruiser, ranging from 489 to 618 millimeters. Passengers up to 180 cm tall can be comfortably accommodated on the LC4 and LC5 versions.
The left and right seats, complete with headrest, can be lowered or raised independently in a smooth and easy action. A power option is available on LC4 and LC5 models, using the controls mounted in the tailgate and nearside seat behind the second row. This feature also allows the third row of seats recline at the touch of a button.
Toyota land cruiser Storage
Better packaging of the rear seats to give new Toyota Land Cruiser additional load capacity than the current model, in which the third-row seats stowed vertically on both sides of the vehicle. With all the second-row seats in place, there is room to carry luggage for four in the rear cargo area when the third-row seats are raised, there is still room for a suitcase of medium and large size.Minimum width of cargo has increased from 810 to 1,110 mm, while the length of the tailgate on the back of the seats in the second row is for a maximum of 1,075 mm, 1,020 mm compared to the previous model.
The luggage compartment is equipped with a luggage net, eyelets, tracks utility (LC4 and LC5), a storage tray and a 3.8-liter storage box. A tool kit is stowed in a special compartment in the tailgate.
Points are given for storage throughout the cabin. Front seat storage includes a large glove box, wearing sunglasses on his head (with built-in mirror conversation), cup holders in three sizes, large front door pockets with built-in wine rack and a small glove box equipped with a USB connection and charging digital music players. There is also a large container under the center console armrest, large enough to hold four half-liter bottles (with a function of LC4 and LC5 models coolbox) and a tray with a higher level.
Passengers are served in the second row seat back pocket, pockets and cup holders with double door bottle holders. Cupholders are provided for the occupants of the third row, too. Twelve-volt power outlets are available in the front rows and the second, with a 220V AC power outlet in the cargo area.
In profile, the new Toyota Land Cruiser shows flowing lines and dynamic, with the cowl moved 65 mm forward, the belt line raised 20 mm from the front and rear flared wheel arches and integral to the rear of the vehicle, such as
On the back side of high visibility LED lamp cluster side-hinged tailgate, which is inset deep into the rear bumper to provide a practical, step-level access, protected by a durable cover.

To counter this risk,
To this end, the front crumple zone in the frame of the new Land Cruiser is set at a height equivalent to that of a conventional car.
Speed-sensitive control, which ensures the best stability and ride comfort automatically returning the vehicle ride height at high or low for the
Switching-off and related control, which when activated for a certain period of time after the ignition is switched off, prevents the height of the back up after passengers exit the vehicle.
Height control OFF, which disables the height control during lifting and towing of the vehicle.
A standard feature on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC5, Multi-terrain Select (MTS) is an evolution of the A-TRC system and the first
MTS automatically adjusts the vehicle acceleration, braking and traction control to meet the off-road conditions, providing optimal traction and driver control the vehicle.
The display angle
The attention to detail can be seen in a soft-touch toggle on the side of the center console that provide extra comfort for the driver's knees and shins, and a soft urethane pad on top of the center armrest. Identification of off-road control switch at the base of the center console makes it easy to use on both front seats.
